Nazi registration in Vienna

Vienna's authorities faced the most diverse problems registering Nazis. An especially  profound difficulty was the fact that appeals for clemency – intended to be the exception – became the rule. This made the undertaking practically impossible, and changes to the law indispensable. The venture was made more difficult by the Allies forcefully expressing their wishes regarding the registration process, which had to be accommodated.
